Welcome

Welcome to the Pembrokeshire Alliance. We are a community-based campaign group committed to:

  • Standing up for Pembrokeshire
  • Open, honest and transparent politics
  • A County Council that works for the interests of local people and local communities

The Alliance currently has three County Councillors who are working hard for a better Pembrokeshire. We are looking to recruit a broad-based group of members and supporters who will help to make a difference and provide a strong voice for the people of this County. We intend to register as a local political party and stand candidates in the 2017 County Council Elections. If you agree with our aims and objectives, please support us.

I have 2 seats booked for Milford PCC engagement meeting on Thursday 7-9pm. We will not be going so up for grabs if anyone wants them.

I hope Pembs Alliance will not be supporting Jamie Adams and his attempts to dust it under the carpet and give BJP a pay off. He should be fully held to account, like any other employee, and dismissed if found guilty. Furthermore Councillor Adams should go as well as it has become obvious his hands are just as dirty

If you thought 2017 was too far away to make the changes in Pembrokeshire that we deserve, then consider this…

Pembrokeshire Alliance needs time to mature as a political group and to put forward costed and workable policies.

Whether PEMBROKESHIRE survives as a county is now mostly out of our hands thanks to the damage caused by the actions of a ruling elite.

If it all goes wrong before 2017 then the W.A. response will be similar to what their response was to a crisis in the local government of Anglesy!

We still have the BPJ issue to resolve and we can all see that being costly, let us not be a signatory to that farce.

In recent months with all the leaks and pressure on the IPG we have finally seen some IPG members see the folly and want to leave that group. How long really before the group implodes? There are “some” that would be an asset to Pembrokeshire Alliance and have chosen to speak out now. Give them the chance to demonstrate their worth to the people of Pembrokeshire and come forward.

Let not the quick fix option be the demise of a movement for change, however well meant.

I certainly wouldn’t recommend joining hands with the very people who have brought Pembrokeshire Council into disrepute. To be frank, I’m quite disappointed by this news, but not wholly surprised. I had reservations about the reliability and principles of the ‘Pembrokeshire Alliance’ but was willing to see how the party progressed…. it seems my reservations were justified.

No NO NO After this weeks revelations about undue pressure being put on Councillors, IPG members allegedly lying, after all the recent catalogued failures of this Group, the recent comments on lack of trust, I cannot see that the Alliance would have a shred of credibility if its members propped up the current Leadership.

There are difficult decisions to be reached on proposal for cuts to our services in the light of full financial information that we, on the outside, are not privy to.

After having putting direct charges for services up to full cost recovery this year, ( and incidentally ignoring the admitted fact that these income targets will not be met due to delay in implementation) it seems that the Council Tax received will now be more than originally estimated.

Is the lowest council tax in wales still the IPG’s holy grail? ( Who benefits most from this? )

Is a priority still to put all spare resources “saved” from the provision of our services into the pot for 21st Century Schools ( this pot was started off with a significant contribution allocated from the reserves originally set aside for the provision of other services).

I might even ask whether Councillors have even seen last year’s Accounts, much less been given an opportunity to debate or consider the final allocations made by officers under their delegated powers.

These matters must be strongly challenged from the outside, not in the cosy informal closed discussions, much favoured by the IPG.

I see that Monday’s Cabinet is to be attended by only 8 Councillors, room for another 2, but then again we have been told that the “real” Cabinet consists of 3 councillors.

This County has been brought to its knees by this regime, it should not continue.

Wish you well Bob, your personal experience this week shows there are more important matters.

Mark you views are noted. If we can not debate and if we can not make decisions as one then we deserve to be dead and gone. We can also sit on our hands and watch pembrokeshire go. Our strength is people’s views and what they will work hard to make happen. If you are not interested in that then you have made the correct decission

Jonathan, debate and speaking up are one thing, but jumping into bed with the IPG+ group after all the hype that was stirred up, along with the public meetings, wanting new members etc etc to to create a difference and ultimately bring down the IPG+ group, is an entirely different thing. People EXPECTED AND WANTED Pembs Alliance to be different and separate. Thats what was offered to us. Judging by the mood on facebook a BIG mistake has just been made and just about all credibility you had has now been lost.

Like many others who have posted on FB, I now withdraw all support from you. You are all the same, greedy for power and totally ignoring what ordinary people want.

Emma, what do you think we should do? PCC is falling apart! Do we sit back or try to bring back sanity? The Alliance is about debate and dioing what is best for our county. If our members say no after a clear debate on what is best then no it shall be. Credibility is lost by those who put their heads in the sand and don’t talk.

I thought the whole point of the Pembrokeshire Alliance was to give the people of Pembrokeshire an alternative to the IPPG. Sorry Bob, but you’ve certainly lost any credibility as an alternative to the. ‘Norm’ now!!!!

I have just read the breaking news in the Western Telegraph: Pembrokeshire Alliance considering coalition agreement with ruling Independent Plus group on Pembrokeshire County Council, Are you mad? jumping into bed with that bunch of cut throats and con artists, that in my opinion would be a very bad move, no one trusts the IPPG anymore and your thinking of going into a coalition with them , you must be mad, Thanks Stu

We have just been informed about the preferred PCC/Ceredigion option for amalgamation. The White Paper does not offer any clear guide as to how or how much this will cost, although confidently, savings are expected to be realised. What, if anything, are we expected to make of this?

At the moment I cannot see that the case for oposition, or acceptance without evidence, can be judged.

All I am certain about is that we have not been well served by the present whole council, by both senior officers, and councillors with notable individual exceptions.

Like all things new it takes time to build infra structure as well as write documentation. We will be registering as a party with logos etc. we need as much help putting things together as possible. Fancy giving us a hand ? :)

It is a fairly simple question Jonathan. The “manifesto”, if that is what it is intended to be, is scattered over about twenty pages here, and is, for the most part, limited to single-sentence openings – no real flesh on the bones. Also, how is (or will) the “political party” be registered, if at all?

Mark I think you actually need to look at the site. I thought our position was quite clear. If you find faults please let us know.

Is this going to be another un-manifestoed, unregistered “Independant” local council group, with none of the obligations or responsibilities of a registered political party?

I totally agree. Off the back foot and sell all the excellent things about are county. We have a lot to be proud of. The odd fool will not bring the vast majority of caring people to their knees. Forward and upward :)
